We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of launch.joomla.org, a new system that merges Joomla.com and demo.joomla.org into one area where you can spin up free, fully functional Joomla websites (including FTP and PHPMyAdmin). The only limitations imposed will be subdomain usage and 500MB disk space, which can be overcome by upgrading to a paid plan starting from just $5/mo.
When activated, the Smart Updater automatically helps keep your website, plugins and themes up-to-date, which is crucial to ensuring your sites remains safe and secure.
We had the privilege of attending a fantastic WordCamp last weekend in Kent Ohio. The event started on Saturday so we arrived Friday evening to get our interactive VR booth setup at the venue. We were immediately impressed by the convenience of having the event venue at the same location as the recommended hotel. This is always preferred.
As the Saturday sessions got into full swing, we found that there are many enthusiastic WordPress users in the area. Many of the conferences that we attend consist mostly of developers, but in this case it seemed there were quite a few new WordPress users who are actively trying to grow their knowledge. This tends to be a is a sign of a thriving WordPress community in Kent, Ohio.
This was our second year sponsoring and attending Joomla Day Florida and yet again, it was a fantastic event!
There were thought-provoking keynotes by Mike Demo, John Rampton and Robert Jacobi. We managed to catch some great sessions, and the tempo was kept in time by the notorious Robert Parker who MC’d the event. The conference venue was Ybor City, a historic area of Tampa with Cuban roots and amazing nightlife. The event was held on a local campus, which was ultimately the perfect sized venue.

It’s the one conference each year that our team looks forward to the most. Not because of the great promo swag, or even the unique locations... we love this conference because of the people. The only way to describe this event is “family reunion” for the passionate community of Joomlers.
There are two reasons why we sponsor this and other events. First and foremost, it's one of the ways that we give back to the communities that our company is based upon. Second, to engage with talented community members. The result is always invaluable feedback and discussions on life, the web and everything in between.
