Our toy drive has come to an end and we are so thankful for everyone who participated. We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) organization of Northern Michigan for helping to spread the word and distribute the toys to families in need this Holiday Season!

For all of those who donated via our online donation button, we are truly grateful! We were able to match the contributions dollar for dollar, which doubled the total number of toys that we were able to purchase.

What’s this all about?

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the organization that is responsible for managing Internet Protocol numbers and Domain Names introduced a new policy for gTLD domain names.

What are gTLD domain names?

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are one of the categories of top-level domains (TLDs). Historically, the group of generic top-level domains has included domains created in the early development of the domain name system (.com, .net, .org, .edu, and .gov TLDs). Nowadays you can register almost 800 different types of gTLDs (ex .club, .cloud, .host) and many, many more.

Over the last couple of days, you may have heard about massive network instability issues that affected a few of the major hosting companies. Today, October 25th, 2016, Joomla 3.6.4 has been released. It contains two high priority security updates. If you own or administrate a Joomla site, it’s highly recommended that you update your site to this version immediately. In collaboration with the Joomla Security Stike Team (JSST), our team has implemented and tested platform-wide protection from this vulnerability. 

In the hours following the release, the CloudAccess.net Abuse Team has not seen any active widespread attacks, although we do expect to see automated bots actively scanning for out-of-date sites on unprotected hosts.

Last weekend two of our team members, Danie and Eyvonne, attended WordCamp LA (WCLAX) 2016, an experience that did not disappoint. So here comes another major release of Wordpress with version 4.6, which includes cool new features and of course bug fixes. This article will explain how you should proceed with updating the site and then we will check out the new features introduced.

Those who do not have automatic updates set to ON will need to update the site manually, but make sure you take a BACKUP of the site before proceeding with the update.
Go to the Dashboard > Updates > Update your site. Easy, right!
