Custom HTML Module (Joomla 2.5)

Have you ever wondered how to put text or images outside of the main content box without learning how to use a 3rd party extension? Well, wonder no more. This article explains how to do that. It’s designed for Joomla! 1.7, but doing this in Joomla! 1.5 or 2.5 involves a similar process. First, go to Extensions → Module Manager and click the "New" button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Then, select the "Custom HTML" option from the pop-up that appears.

The custom HTML module screen looks much like the article screen, and that’s the point! You can add text, images, videos, custom code, and pretty much anything else you want there, just as you can with an article. The difference is that you can place the module in any of the module positions available inside the template you're using, while the article exists in one static position. Be sure to save your work.

By returning to the front end of the site and refreshing the page, you'll be able to see your Custom HTML module in the postion you selected.
