Creating a Favicon

There are many free sites out there that will help you to generate your favicon. We created ours using https://www.favicon-generator.org/. You'll simply create an image, upload it to their site, and they'll produce a favicon .zip file for you to install into your site. Once you have the favicon .zip file, be sure to save it to your PC for easy access later. This resource gives additional options for creating and installing a favicon.

Installing a Favicon

Installing your favicon into your Joomla site involves accessing your site using file transfer protocol. If you'd like to access FTP, there are some helpful related resources at the bottom of this article. If you're already familiar with FTP, there are additional instructions below.

After creating and saving your favicon .zip file, it's important to extract the favicon.ico file from the .zip file. We recommend that you place the favicon.ico file on your desktop or a different, easily accessible location. Next, log into your site using FTP. Locate the favicon.ico file on your PC, open the httpdocs directory, right click on the file's name, and select "Upload".

At this point, the upload will be complete unless you had a preexisting favicon .ico file. If you would like overwrite the preexisting file, you will be asked if you want to overwrite. Select "Yes" or "OK". FTP is advanced, and technical, and if you're unfamiliar with it, it can take some time to learn. Remember, if you are a CloudAccess.net client, you can log in to your Cloud Control Panel™(CCP), submit a support ticket, attach your favicon.ico file and one of our support team members will install your favicon for you.
